a LUN uses Fibre Channel or iSCSI protocol as the Transport
for the same SCSI commands used for data Access in DAS. Using an Interfase, either a FC HBA or one of three options in iSCSI:

1 All software w/ a plain Ethernet NIC,

2 Halt software, half hardware w/ a TOE card, or

3 All hardware w/ a Hardware iSCSI Initiator
